Ville Ilmonen from Caverion won a European thesis competition

Ville Ilmonen’s study on Caverion has been rewarded as the best master’s thesis in Europe in the field of technical maintenance. The choice was made by the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS). The prizes were handed out at the biennial EFNMS Conference in Athens 31, May.

The topic of the thesis is the scheduling of the field services. For the research, Ilmonen interviewed and observed Caverion’s dispatchers, service managers and field service technicians in Helsinki and Turku in Finland, in Stockholm, Sweden and in Oslo, Norway.

“Making the thesis for Caverion was challenging yet rewarding process. I received support and help from many and my thesis was taken seriously already at the beginning. After my graduation, I have had the opportunity to pilot some of the findings of my work in dispatch in Finland and I currently work as a unit manager of a Service Center. That means that I am still involved in developing the dispatching and scheduling processes at Caverion,” says Ilmonen, who studied Information Networks at the Aalto University School of Science.

Caverion is actively supporting the education in our industry and has cooperation with schools and institutes of higher education. The advisor of Ilmonen’s thesis was Jussi Lehtonen.
