Caverion to be in charge of the monitoring and maintenance of the second-largest open data centre in the Nordic countries

Caverion and Telia Finland have signed a contract covering the control room operator services and property maintenance of the new Telia Helsinki Data Center. The open data centre to be built in the Pitäjänmäki district in Helsinki will be the most secure, energy efficient and environment-friendly data centre in the Nordic countries.

“We are pleased that our new partner is Caverion, which has a good track record of extensive projects that require very high precision and intelligence. This co-operation enables us to provide the best possible service to all our customers,” says Pasi Sutinen, Director, Data center business at Telia.

Caverion's control room operators will work at the data centre and be responsible for the operations of the facility 24/7, every day of the year. The control room operators will monitor the operations and react to potential changes according to an agreed-upon model. In addition, professionals in building systems have been trained in data centre operations and will act on duty in case of any emergency work.

Caverion is also responsible for maintaining the technical systems of the building and for monitoring warranty-period systems and warranty maintenance.

"We are happy that Telia has chosen us as their partner at this highly challenging site. The new open data centre offers wide opportunities for services utilising digitalisation and we want to be part of their implementation," says Raimo Ojanen, Business Manager at Caverion South Finland.

All heat generated at Helsinki Data Center will be collected and the collected heat can be used to heat up to 10,000 households. The data centre meets TIER 3 class reliability requirements and high security classifications. The planned IT capacity of the centre is 24 MW and its initial capacity will be at least 6 MW.
