Caverion has won an agreement with Statsbygg in a partnership project to deliver advisory services, design and engineering, and project execution for a new Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. The contract is signed with the general contractor Backe Trondheim, with a value of approximately EUR 12 million.
The partnership project members are Backe Trondheim, LINK architecture, Multiconsult, and Caverion. Four other teams competed for the contract. For the installation, Caverion will deliver the technical solutions of Heating and Sanitation, Ventilation, Cooling, Electricity, Security, and Automation.
With 18,000 m2 the building will be a combined education and sports venue that will contain a mix of teaching facilities, social meeting places, and exercise opportunities for 2,000 students and 250 employees.
The building will be classified as ZEB-0÷EQ and BREEAM Excellent and will have modern technology like solar thermal collectors.
“We are proud to be in this joint project with our trusted and highly competent partners. Together we will deliver a building where the environment and energy efficiency are taken care of throughout the whole life cycle. This is ensured through the ZEB classification, which means the building's renewable energy production compensates for greenhouse gas emissions from operation of the building minus the energy use for equipment,” says Knut Gaaserud, Executive Vice President & CEO of Caverion Norway.
Caverion’s work will start in 2019 and will be completed by 2021.
Statsbygg is the Norwegian government’s own key advisor in construction and property affairs, building commissioner, property manager, and property developer.
